Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup rendered beef tallow (make sure it’s high quality and from grass-fed sources if possible)
- 1/4 cup shea butter
- 1/4 cup carrier oil (such as coconut oil, olive oil, or sweet almond oil)
- 1/4 cup beeswax (or plant-based wax for a vegan option)
- 10-15 drops of essential oil (optional, such as lavender, tea tree oil, or frankincense for added benefits)
- 1 teaspoon vitamin E oil (optional, for added nourishment)
Equipment:
- Double boiler or a heatproof bowl over simmering water
- Glass jar or tin for storage
- Measuring cups and spoons
- Stirring utensil
Instructions:
1. Melt the Tallow, Shea Butter, and Beeswax: In a double boiler, combine the rendered beef tallow, shea butter, and beeswax. Heat gently over low to medium heat until both are fully melted, stirring occasionally to ensure they are well combined.
2. Add Carrier Oil: Once the tallow, shea butter, and beeswax are melted, add the carrier oil of your choice to the mixture. Stir to combine thoroughly.
3. Incorporate Essential Oils (Optional): Remove the mixture from heat. If desired, add your chosen essential oils and vitamin E oil. Stir well to ensure even distribution.
4. Cool and Store: Pour the warm mixture into clean glass jars or tins. Allow it to cool completely at room temperature, where it will solidify into a salve.
### Tips: Consistency Adjustment: If you prefer a thicker salve, you can add more beeswax. For a softer salve, reduce the amount of beeswax.
