Ingredients:
- 1 cup rosehip tea (brewed and cooled)
- 1/2 cup rosehip oil
- 1/2 cup shea butter (or coconut oil)
- 1 tablespoon beeswax (optional, for a thicker consistency)
- 10-15 drops of rose essential oil
- 1 teaspoon vitamin E oil (optional, for added nourishment)
Equipment:
- Double boiler or a heatproof bowl over simmering water
- Whisk or hand mixer
- Glass jar or lotion pump for storage
- Measuring cups and spoons
Instructions:
- Brew the Rosehip Tea: Begin by brewing a strong cup of rosehip tea. Use about 1-2 tablespoons of dried rosehips steeped in 1 cup of hot water for about 10-15 minutes. Strain the tea and allow it to cool completely.
- Melt the Base Ingredients: In a double boiler, combine the shea butter and beeswax (if using). Heat over low to medium heat until melted, stirring occasionally.
- Incorporate Rosehip Oil: Once melted, remove the mixture from heat and let it cool slightly. Stir in the rosehip oil until fully combined.
- Add Rosehip Tea: Gradually whisk in the cooled rosehip tea. If you prefer a thicker lotion, you can use less tea. Stir well to combine.
- Incorporate Essential Oil: Add essential oil and vitamin E oil to the mixture. Stir thoroughly to ensure even distribution.
- Emulsify the Mixture: Use a hand mixer or whisk to blend the lotion for about 5-10 minutes until it reaches a creamy, fluffy consistency.
- Cool and Store: Once well combined and thickened, transfer the lotion to a clean glass jar or lotion pump. Allow it to cool completely before sealing.
- Use and Enjoy: Your homemade rosehip oil and rosehip tea lotion is now ready to use! Apply it to your skin as needed for hydration and nourishment. Store in a cool, dry place and use within a few months.
### Tips:
- Feel free to adjust the amount of rosehip tea based on your desired consistency.
- For additional benefits, consider adding other nourishing oils such as jojoba or almond oil.
