Goat Milk Lotion

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup goat milk (fresh or canned)
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil (or sweet almond oil)
  • 1/2 cup shea butter (or cocoa butter)
  • 1 tablespoon beeswax (optional, for a thicker consistency)
  • 10-15 drops of essential oil (optional, such as lavender or chamomile for a soothing scent)
  • 1 teaspoon vitamin E oil (optional, for added nourishment)

Equipment:

  • Double boiler or a heatproof bowl over simmering water
  • Whisk or hand mixer
  • Glass jar or lotion pump for storage
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Goat Milk: If using fresh goat milk, make sure it is at room temperature. If using canned goat milk, shake the can well before measuring out 1 cup.
  2. Melt the Base Ingredients: In a double boiler, combine the coconut oil, shea butter, and beeswax (if using). Heat over low to medium heat until melted, stirring occasionally to combine.
  3. Cool Slightly: Once melted, remove the mixture from heat and let it cool for a few minutes. This will prevent the goat milk from curdling when added.
  4. Add Goat Milk: Gradually whisk in the goat milk until fully combined. If you prefer a thicker lotion, you can reduce the amount of goat milk used.
  5. Incorporate Essential Oils (Optional): Add your chosen essential oils and vitamin E oil (if using) to the mixture. Stir well to ensure everything is evenly distributed.
  6. Emulsify the Mixture: Using a hand mixer or whisk, blend the lotion for about 5-10 minutes until it reaches a creamy, fluffy consistency. This step is important to incorporate air and create a light texture.
  7. 7. Cool and Store: Once the mixture is well combined and has thickened, transfer it to a clean glass jar or lotion pump. Allow it to cool completely before sealing.
  8. Use and Enjoy: Your homemade goat milk lotion is now ready to pamper your skin! Apply it as needed for hydration and nourishment. Store in a cool, dry place, and use within a few months.

### Tips:

  • For added benefits, consider incorporating other nourishing ingredients like honey or aloe vera gel.
  • If you want to make a larger batch, simply double or triple the ingredients, adjusting accordingly.
  • Customize the scent by experimenting with different essential oils that you enjoy.
