Ingredients:
- 1 cup carrier oil (such as olive oil, coconut oil, or sweet almond oil)
- 1/4 cup beeswax (for a firmer salve)
- 2 tablespoons frankincense resin
- 2 tablespoons myrrh resin
- Optional: 10-15 drops of frankincense or myrrh essential oil
- Optional: Vitamin E oil (a few drops, as a natural preservative)
Equipment:
- Double boiler or a heat-safe bowl over a pot of simmering water
- Small glass jars or tins for storage
- Stirring stick or spoon
Instructions:
1. In a double boiler, combine the carrier oil, resins, and beeswax. Heat gently over low to medium heat until the resin and beeswax is completely melted and combined with the oil. Stir occasionally.
2. Remove the mixture from heat. Allow it to cool slightly (but not solidify), then add the frankincense and myrrh essential oils and vitamin E oil.
3. Stir the mixture well to ensure that the essential oils are evenly distributed throughout the salve.
4. Carefully pour the mixture into your glass jars or tins. Be cautious as the mixture may still be hot.
5. Allow the salve to cool completely at room temperature. Once set, cover the containers with lids. Store in a cool, dark place.
