Chicken dumplings are a comforting and delicious dish that combines tender, flavorful filling wrapped in soft dough. Perfect for any occasion, these dumplings can be steamed, boiled, or pan-fried for a delightful meal that the whole family will enjoy.

Ingredients
For the Dumpling Filling:
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 1 cup finely chopped cabbage
- 1/2 cup shredded carrots
- 3 green onions, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
For the Dumpling Dough:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup boiling water
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (optional)

Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Filling
1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground chicken, chopped cabbage, shredded carrots, green onions, minced garlic, and ginger.
2. Add soy sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are combined. Set aside.
Step 2: Make the Dumpling Dough
1. In another bowl, combine the flour and salt.
2. Slowly add boiling water to the flour mixture, stirring with a fork or chopsticks until it starts to come together.
3. Once cool enough to handle, knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. If the dough is sticky, add a little more flour. If it feels dry, you can add a little water.
4. Cover the dough with a damp cloth or plastic wrap to keep it moist while you prepare the dumplings.
Step 3: Assemble the Dumplings
1. Divide the dough into small pieces (about the size of a golf ball).
2. Roll each piece into a circle about 3 inches in diameter on a floured surface.
3. Place about 1 tablespoon of the chicken filling in the center of each dough circle.
4. Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Pinch the edges to seal tightly, making sure there are no gaps. You can pleat the edges for a decorative look.
Step 4: Cooking the Dumplings
You can choose to steam, boil, or pan-fry the dumplings.
Steaming:
1. Place dumplings in a steamer basket lined with parchment paper (to prevent sticking).
2. Steam over boiling water for about 15-20 minutes, or until the filling is cooked through.
Boiling:
1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil.
2. Add dumplings in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pot. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until they float to the surface and are cooked through.
Pan-Frying:
1. Heat a tablespoon of oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
2. Place the dumplings in the skillet, flat side down, and cook for about 3-5 minutes until the bottoms are golden brown.
3. Flip and cook for 3-5 more minutes until golden brown
Step 5: Serve
– Serve the dumplings hot with a dipping sauce made from soy sauce, rice vinegar, and a splash of sesame oil. Enjoy!
Tips
– You can add more vegetables to the filling, such as mushrooms or bell peppers, according to your taste.
– If you have leftover filling, it can be cooked in a skillet and served as a stir-fry.
