Candied Rose Petals

Candied rose petals are a delightful and elegant treat that can be used to decorate cakes, cupcakes, or desserts, or simply enjoyed as a sweet snack. They have a delicate floral flavor and a beautiful appearance, making them a lovely addition to various dishes.

Ingredients

• Fresh rose petals (preferably organic and pesticide-free)
• 1 cup Granulated sugar, plus extra for sprinkling
• 1/2 cup water

Instructions

1. Gently wash the fresh rose petals under cold water to remove any dirt or insects. Allow them to air dry. Select petals that are free from blemishes and pesticides.
2. In a heavy saucepan heat the sugar and water using low heat until the sugar has dissolved and has turned light golden.
3. Using small tongs, dip each rose petal in the sugar water and place on a parchment paper lined baking sheet
4. Sprinkle with sugar: After coating the petals, sprinkle granulated sugar over each petal, allowing the sugar to adhere to the petals.
5. Dry the petals: Allow the coated petals to dry at room temperature. The petals should be crisp and not sticky to the touch when done.
6. Store: Once the petals are completely dry, store them in an airtight container at room temperature. They can last for several weeks if kept dry.
7. Use: Candied rose petals can be used to decorate desserts, added to salads for a pop of color, or enjoyed as a sweet treat on their own. They make a beautiful garnish for cakes, pastries, or cocktails.

Candied rose petals are a lovely way to incorporate the delicate flavor and beauty of roses into your culinary creations. Enjoy these elegant treats in a variety of dishes or as a charming addition to your next gathering!
