Perfectly poached eggs are a delicious breakfast staple that can elevate any dish, from toast to salads. With their tender whites and runny yolks, they add a rich, creamy texture that’s both satisfying and nutritious.

Ingredients:
- 4 large eggs
- Water
- 1 tablespoon white vinegar (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh herbs or chopped chives for garnish (optional)

Instructions:
1. Fill a medium saucepan with about 3-4 inches of water and bring it to a gentle simmer over medium heat. If desired, add the white vinegar to help the egg whites coagulate.
2. Crack each egg into a small bowl or ramekin. This will make it easier to slip the eggs into the water.
3. Once the water is simmering, create a gentle whirlpool by stirring the water with a spoon. This helps the egg white wrap around the yolk for a neater poach.
4. Carefully slide one egg at a time into the center of the whirlpool, allowing it to cook undisturbed for about 3-4 minutes, or until the whites are set and the yolk is still runny.
5. Using a slotted spoon, gently lift the poached egg out of the water and place it on a paper towel to drain any excess water.
6. Repeat with the remaining eggs, adjusting the cooking time if you prefer firmer yolks.
7. Season the poached eggs with salt and pepper, and garnish with fresh herbs or chives if desired. Serve immediately, and enjoy your perfectly poached eggs!
