This classic buttercream frosting is rich, creamy, and incredibly versatile. Perfect for decorating cakes, cupcakes, or cookies, it can be easily flavored or colored to suit any occasion.
Ingredients
• 1 cup unsalted butter, softened (at room temperature)
• 4 cups powdered sugar
• 1/4 cup heavy cream (or milk)
• 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
• A pinch of salt
Instructions
1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter with an electric mixer on medium speed until creamy and smooth, about 2-3 minutes.
2. Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, mixing on low speed until combined.
3. Once all the sugar is added, increase the mixer speed to medium and beat for about 1-2 minutes, until the mixture is fluffy.
4. Add the heavy cream (or milk), vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Beat on medium speed for another 2-3 minutes until the frosting is light and airy.
5. If the frosting is too thick, add a little more cream (1 tablespoon at a time) until the desired consistency is reached. If it’s too thin, add more powdered sugar until thickened.
6. Use immediately to frost your favorite cakes, cupcakes, or cookies. If not using right away, store the frosting in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. Before using, re-whip to restore its texture. Enjoy!
