Cheesy Crackers

These homemade cheesy crackers are crunchy, flavorful, and perfect for snacking! They’re simple to make and can be enjoyed on their own or paired with dips and spreads.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Parmesan, or your choice)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika or cayenne pepper (optional, for extra flavor)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3-4 tablespoons cold water

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, shredded cheese, salt, and paprika or cayenne pepper (if using). Stir until well combined.

3. Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

4. Gradually add cold water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough comes together. You may not need all the water; stop adding when the dough holds together without being sticky.

5. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Roll it out to about 1/8-inch thickness. Use a pizza cutter or a sharp knife to cut the dough into squares or your desired shape.

6. Transfer the cut crackers to the prepared baking sheet. If desired, use a fork to poke holes in the center of each cracker for decoration and to prevent puffing during baking.

7. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the crackers are golden brown and crisp. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning.

8. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the crackers cool on a wire rack. Once cooled, they can be enjoyed immediately or stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
