Baked Brie

Baked brie is a luxurious appetizer featuring creamy brie cheese enveloped in flaky pastry, creating a delightful combination of textures and flavors. This elegant dish is perfect for gatherings, as it can be easily shared and pairs beautifully with fruits, nuts, and spreads.

Ingredients

  • 1 round brie cheese (about 8 oz)
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, (find my puffed pastry recipe HERE)
  • 1/4 cup fruit preserves (such as raspberry or apricot)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Optional: chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans) for added texture

Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry to smooth any creases. Place the brie cheese in the center of the pastry and spread the fruit preserves over the top. If using, sprinkle chopped nuts over the preserves.
3. Fold the puff pastry over the brie, sealing the edges to create a package. Trim any excess pastry and press to seal well, ensuring that the cheese is completely encased.
4. Place the wrapped brie seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the top with the beaten egg to achieve a golden color when baked.
5. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed. Let cool slightly before slicing, and serve warm with crackers or sliced baguette.
