Naan is a soft and fluffy Indian flatbread that is perfect for scooping up curries or enjoying on its own. With its slightly charred exterior and tender texture, it makes for a delightful addition to any meal and can easily be made at home.

Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon instant yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup plain yogurt
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
- Optional: minced garlic, chopped cilantro, or nigella seeds for topping
Instructions
1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt. In a separate bowl, mix the yogurt and warm water, then gradually add this mixture to the dry ingredients, along with the olive oil or melted butter. (Optional: add minced garlic to the dough before kneading)
2. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
3. Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Divide the dough into small balls and roll each one out into an oval or circle about 1/4 inch thick.
4. Cook the naan in the hot skillet for 1-2 minutes on each side, or until puffy and lightly browned. If desired, brush the cooked naan with melted butter and sprinkle with minced garlic, cilantro, or nigella seeds.
5. Serve warm, either plain or alongside your favorite dishes.
